DMCH completes 10 years of successful bariatric (weight loss) surgery programme: organized ‘Patient Support Group Meeting’

Ludhiana, September 1, 2018: On the eve of completing 10 years of successful weight loss/bariatric surgery programme, DMCH organized a ‘Patient to Patient interaction programme’. The meeting was organized keeping in view the patient’s experience after bariatric surgery.

During the meet, Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta congratulated the department for the successful completion of 10 years of Bariatric surgery programme. The meeting was also attended by Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina and Medical Supdts Dr Sandeep Sharma and Dr Ashwani Chaudhary.

Dr Ashish Ahuja (Associate Professor & Bariatric Surgeon) said that the patients present on the occasion have undergone this surgery 2 days back, 1 week back,2 weeks back, 2 months back and few years back. They were invited to discuss the amount of weightloss and cure of many diseases including diabetes, blood pressure, joint pains, breathing problems after undergoing bariatric surgery.

Dr PS Nain (Professor & Bariatric Surgeon, DMCH) said obesity is rising at an alarming level in the urban population due to increasing stress and easily availability of things and sedentary life style.

During the meeting, the patients came on the stage and shared their experiences and problems due to obesity and how their lives changed after undergoing bariatric surgery.

In all, 60 people attended the ‘Obesity Support Meet’ and thanked a team of doctors at DMCH for gifting them a new lease of life.

DMCH is fully equipped with state-of-art facilities and doctors and all bariatric surgery procedures are performed on regular basis.
