Discussion during Doctor’s Day Celebration at CGC Landran
Central Law Needed to protect Doctors: NIPER Professor Recent assault on Doctors which led to a Nationwide Protest by Indian Medical Association (IMA) to prevent the violence against Medical Professionals has opened a new matter of discussion. Keeping in mind the current year theme ‘Zero tolerance to violence against Doctors and clinical establishment’, Chandigarh Group of Colleges celebrated the day to mark respect to the physicians for the work they do for their patients, the communities they work in and for society as a whole.Following the decision of IMA to commemorate July 1 to 8 as 'Safe Fraternity Week', Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals students and faculty of CGC Landran participated in discussions focussed on the role and need of Doctors in the development of the nation. There must be a central law for the protecting doctors against any kind of violence and threat. This was stated by Dr. U.C.Banerjee, Head Department of Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) who facilitated the discussion. He added that such instances are the result of hampering with the democracy and the Political parties must keep an eye on them. National Doctor’s Day is celebrated to commemorate the legendary physician and Bharat Ratan Awardee, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy who was born and got expired on a same date which is 1st July.
