DGP Directs Field Officers To Ensure Safe & Secure Environment During Festival Season

Chandigarh, November 4, 2015: Mr.Suresh Arora, Director General of Police, Punjab has directed all the Commissioners of Police, Zonal IGPs, Range DIGs and district SSPs to ensure implementation of elaborate preventive and precautionary measures to provide a safe and secure environment to the citizens of the State to celebrate the festival season.
In the communique, the DGP described the maintenance of Law & Order, peace and communal harmony, especially during ongoing festival season as the foremost responsibility of the police.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Punjab police informed that the DGP has asked CPs and SSPs to ensure  the mobilization and deployment of maximum police personnel at religious places, market areas, shopping malls, multiplexes, bus stands, railway stations, major inter-sections, sensitive installations/points  and crowded places etc.  In addition to the preventive measures, suitable operations to detect and apprehend anti-national and criminal elements should also be undertaken. Security of threatened persons should also be a priority area for the field police officers, he added.
The DGP has further advised the field police officers to plan and implement preventive precautionary measures to ensure peace and communal harmony in the state and not to leave their headquarters till Diwali (November 11, 2015).
