DEWAN AND DAKHA: Sports give strength to fight against social evils

Ludhiana, March 29: The youth play a key role in development of nation and they can walk on path of the progress only if the youth will stay away from social evils such as drugs. The games provide us health and strength to fight against social evils.

This was stated by Pawan Dewan and Malkit Singh Dakha, presidents of DCC (Urban) and DCC (Rural), respectively, while addressing an annual youth convention organised by Nehru Yuva Kender (Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports) at Punjabi Bhawan here today.

On the occasion, they distributed sports kits among the representatives of 20 youth clubs hailing from both urban and rural parts of the district on behalf the Minister for Information and Broadcasting , Manish Tewaril who is MP from Ludhiana.

Both Dewan and Dakha further said that a healthy person could only build a healthy society and sports played a key role in keeping the body fit. They said Tewari was lying more stress on extension of sports and education, adding this was why he had been giving more grants in these two segments in his parliamentary constituency.

They said the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre had been running many programmes for promotion of sports. They lauded NYK for promoting sports activities in the district, adding NYK was playing an important role in promoting sports activities. They said sports club proved first step in the sphere of global sports. They said the NYK volunteers not only participated in sports activities but also work actively in social activities.

On the occasion, they distributed sports kits to Sardar Nahar Singh Youth Sports Club Village Pudain, Shree Guru Ravidass Welfare Club Village Kailpur, Shaheed Harjinder Singh Sports and Welfare Club Village Basian Bet,Azad Welfare Club Village Cheemna, Desh Bhagat and NRI Club Village Lakha, Youth Services Club Village Talwandi Kalan, Ambi Sports welfare Club Village Hathoor, Youth Independents Sports and Welfare Club Village Malla, Savitri Bai Phoole Mahila Jagriti Sangh Moti Nagar, Rangla Punjab Health and Cultural Club Village Khatra, Bahurang Sabhyacharak Club Village Lalton kalan, Rameshwar welfare Trust Shivpuri, Miri-Piri Sports Club Village Nanakpur Jagera, Baba Deep Singh Sports Association Association Village Silonani, Aseem Youth welfare Club Village Kutala, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Youth Sports Club Village Burj Hari Singh, Sports Club Village Ramgarh Sardaran, Youth Sports Club Village Nathowal, Sidh Baba Jawahar Dass Sports and welfare Club Village Accharwal, Young Star Sports Club Village Sahbana.
