Department of Hindi pays tribute to eminent author Krishna Sobti
Chandigarh, February 1, 2019: Paying tribute to the eminent author and Jnanpith awardee, Krishna Sobti, the Department of Hindi, Panjab University, today organized a special session on her life and works as a part of its ‘Kahi –Unkahi’ literary forum. Dr. Kumool Abbi, chairperson, Department of Sociology, P.U (who also happens to be a family member of Late Krishna Sobti) chaired the session. She shared memorable experiences and enriching teachings of Krishna Sobti with the students. Sharing Krishna Sobti's passion for writing, Dr. Abbi recalled that Sobti would feel an urge to fill blank pages with words which showed her love for writing. The session saw presentations from research scholars. Sumit, spoke on the topic, ‘Literary contribution of Krishna Sobti’ , Mulayam Yadav spoke on, ‘Marfat Delhi -A Memoir' and Mamta spoke on ‘Life and works of Krishna Sobti’. Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Dept. of Hindi said that another special program will be organized by the Department on 18th February 2019 on the occasion of birth anniversary of Krishna Sobti. Today’s event saw participation by research scholars and students of the Department. Dr Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Dept. of Hindi; Prof Satypal Sehgal, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dept. of Hindi and Dr. Rajesh Jaiswal also attended the program. Shakuntla, research scholar, Dept. of Hindi conducted the program.
