Jalandhar, March 30, 2016: Prof John Battaglino, Dean of Students, Boston University, U.S.A who visits Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar annually interacted with students of the Science Faculty. His interactive session was about the comparative analysis between US Pedagogy and the Indian System of Teaching. He elaborated that they laid much more emphasis on group discussions. The discussions not only promoted knowledge on the subject of discussion but also gave skills of expression and raised the confidence of the students. The system especially helped students from India and China, it helped them to overcome imaginary fears and complexes and build a better personality. There was no master-student relationship between the teacher and the taught. The taught were first being given a suitable environment and space from growth and illumination for which the teacher was just supposed to ignite a spark or curiosity. Through games played during the session, he made students realise the importance of working and discussing in a group rather than working alone. He concluded the talk with a quote from Mother Teresa ‘Let no one come to you without leaving better and happier.’ He also emphasised that hard work was the best tool for success and also outlined the importance of being kind and generous. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi observed that such interactions with academicians of international stature are imperative for the growth of students and that at KMV such chances come quite often.
