DAVIET Lifts IKG PTU Inter - Zonal Youth Festival 2015

Jalandhar, October 26, 2015: “Change is the only constant” - Barrack Obama was once quoted as saying. Is it? Because DAVIET, Jalandhar seems to have developed the knack of breaking the stereotypes and repeating the histories.  This time the accomplishment which has been replicated is the Inter - Zonal PTU Youth Festival to which DAVIET had been the proud host for the three days of its organization i.e. 24-26 October, 2015. Important to stress that this mega festival witnessed the participation of about 35 teams in various competitions involving more than 1200 students. 
As said, DAVIET, Jalandhar walked away with the victory for the Inter Zonal Youth Fest. The event was flagged off with due enthusiasm and magnificence in the majestic presence of Mr. Pawan Tinu, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Youth Services Govt. of Punjab, as the honourable Chief Guest. The theme of the Inter Zonal youth festival was “Make in India” and it was dedicated to the great son of the soil Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha.
As expected, the fete was a grand success witnessing the clash of talent pools across many engineering colleges in which DAVIET seized the peak slot leaving the other players miles behind. The festival had stiff competitions in the fields of Fine Arts (Painting, Rangoli, Clay Modeling), Theatre Events like Skit, One Act Play, Mime, Mimicry, Singing including Western Song, Group Song – Indian and Western, Vaar Singing and Folk Dance of Bhangra and Giddha coupled with Literary contests like Quiz, Debate and Elocution requiring brains and brawn. The Chief Guest of the valediction ceremony Sh. K D Bhandari Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Punjab sounded all praises for all the participants in general and DAVIET in particular for organizing an event of such gigantic magnitude with elegance and evenhandedness. He motivated the student fraternity in his address and highlighted the significance of co-curricular activities in the lives of the students. He further underscored the importance of hard work in life. Citing examples from his own book of life, Sh. Bhandari said that it is by sheer commitment and belief in yourself and your potential that all the obstacles of life can be razed to ground. He encouraged the students to adopt hard-work though will power as the mantra of success in life. He further motivated the youth to take a pledge to envision and ensure Drugs Free Punjab so that the state can scale new heights of success and glory.     
Dr. Satish Sharma, Director (Colleges) DAV CMC New Delhi congratulated all the participating teams taking part in this grand youth fest and appreciated the efforts of the host Institute (DAVIET) for skillfully organizing this mega event. He stressed that education remains incomplete in the absence of extra-curricular activities since the same lend a balance to one’s personality. Dr. Sharma termed DAVIET as an ornamental Institute for DAV College Managing Committee and applauded the efforts of Dr. Manoj Kumar and his entire team for making this Institute a destination of choice in the state of Punjab.       
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET expressed his exhilaration at the victory by DAVIET and expressed his profound joy at the assemblage of such a vast pool of talent in the state who displayed extraordinary spirit in the entire event. He congratulated the winners as well as all the participants for putting up such a good show in good faith and right spirit where competing is more important than winning or losing and represents a learning workshop.

R.K. Dhawan, Principal, RIET, Phagwara, Cultural Coordinators, Principals & faculty members from various Institutes.
