Voting is a festival that creates destiny of nation: Dhanda

Ludhiana, April 4, 2019: Preparing and awakening the youth about benefits of voting and being a responsible citizen, this year, CT University’s School of Law organised an Expert talk on ‘Voting is not just a right, it is our responsibility’ by Harish Rai Dhanda, Former Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Presently Member, Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana.

Welcoming the guest, Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Registrar, said, “Voting is choosing leaders for tomorrow and having to vote as a non violent tool. Elections are not only for those who eagerly cast vote but it is for people who do not vote and must be aware with benefits of voting. Elections are moment of pride for each citizen as it enables to let people raise their voice in choosing a government. This year, we must all vote and let the best win.”

With elections under way in many states of India, all citizens who are eligible to vote are given a chance to participate in the electoral process.

The guest for the day, Harish Rai Dhanda, said, “The Indian Constitution has granted the right to vote to all Indian citizens of sound mind above the age of 18, irrespective of an individual’s caste, religion, social or economic status. Voting is indeed a festival, it is a sense of Independence and creates destiny of a Nation. The young and enthusiastic students right here are voices of Nation. They can spread literacy about benefits of voting and why we all must vote. Create a voice for ‘must vote’.”

Moreover, Dhanda encouraged the students to read about politics. The orthodox of politics to be dirty must be brought to an end as literate society can bring a change.
