Jalandhar, July 11, 2016: CT Polytechnic College under patronage of CT Group of Institutions organized a Tree Plantation drive to commemorate the Van Mahotsav Week on Monday. The drive was started from Shahpur premises to BSF Chowk, PAP Campus and others.
The drive was kicked off by S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) and Mr. Harpreet Singh (Vice Chairman, CT Group of Institutions), Er. Gautam Kocher (Principal, CT Polytechnic College) and other management members by planting saplings at the premises. The Chief Guest of the event was S. Baljit Singh Dhllion (Assistant Commander, 27 Battalion PAP).
He also planted the saplings and motivated others to do so in order to save the society and environment. He appealed to others to do their bit and save the environment by each one planting one sapling to prevent further desertification of the earth.
Mr. Harpreet Singh sensitized the status of the current environmental crisis and on the linkages which connect human action to the deterioration of the earth. Highlighting the fact that ignorant human action has paved way for the piteous state of the earth, therefore it’s important that human action is revisited and we as a race adopt the mantra of 3 essential R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, to save earth. He said, “It has found that during constructions the deforestation used to happen to make clear roads. This leads to pollution, besides we should plant more and more trees and encourage others towards plantation.”
S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) stated that trees are very useful for the human survival and we have no roots without trees. He exhorted that such activities should be organized in educational institutions because the young minds of the children are more receptive and sensitive to learn the importance oftrees in their lives and their role in protecting and safeguarding the environment. He said, “We urge our society towards such initiatives. This initiative has actually helped in fulfilling our Corporate Social Responsibility by encouraging and creating awareness among the masses,” said S. Channi.
