Chandigarh, July 4, 2016: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has issued various instructions and guidelines for controlling the larva of dengue and malaria. PU Registrar Col.G.S.Chadha (Retd.) today issued the instructions as per which various offices have been directed to take precaution in controlling the larva of dengue and malaria.
The NSS wing has been directed to undertake Awareness campaigns for prevention of the diseases. CMO, PU Health Centre would issue Health advisory.
Cleanliness of the area in proximity of the Teaching Departments residential areas, Student Centre & AC Joshi Library would be carried out under the supervision of the Divisional Engineer (Horticulture).
Hostel Wardens of respective hostels with the help of caretakers and manpower at their disposal, would ensure cleanliness in & around hostels & guest houses in the University Campus. They would ensure that no water was allowed to be accumulated in the proximity of the area. No wild growth of bushes and foliage would be allowed.
The PU Health Centre would remain prepared for providing all diagnostic facilities and treatment in case any person reports to the facility with dengue/malaria like symptoms.
The Executive Engineer-I would ensure that all Contractors were directed for proper disposal of Malba, which has the potential for mosquito growth.
All air coolers would be kept empty and dry. Water would not be allowed to be accumulated in their premises. All sources of water accumulation/ stagnation like tyres, broken pitchers, uncovered water tanks, etc., would be got removed/covered/or sprayed with kerosene oil. All drains would be cleaned off any blockages by leaves, plastic bags, etc.CMO/Public Health Department have been asked to organize fogging of all residential areas, such as hostels, residential areas of employees, etc.
