Jalandhar, October 16, 2016: Work days can be tough and particularly tricky for squeezing in physical activity. But with a motive to Inspire Populace by spontaneously breaking into synchronized dance moves and pumping workouts in a public space, CT Group of Institutions and Jalandhar Police Commissionerate come up with WOW- Weekend of Wellness. And, engage in everyone in the shared vision of active and healthy way of life in a traffic free zone.
The Model Town streets from 6am to 9am onwards were cordoned off for the citizens. They used the streets for recreation that promotes health, wellbeing, fitness, togetherness and joy.
The event of its kind galvanized the people to participate in a shared vision of an active and healthy way of life. It was organized with an aim to inspire people to use the space in a holistic manner. It was all about opening streets to people, sharing resources, transforming communities. It was milestone crafted to galvanize the citizens to participate in a shared vision of an active, car-free lifestyle. The traffic was not allowed for three hours as residents will reform their roads as open-air dance studios, art hubs, gymnasiums and yoga institutes. There was Cycling, Cross Fit, Horse Riding, Circuit training, Bolly X, Vedic Yoga, Aerobics, Zumba & Bhangra on Live Dhol, Table Tennis Gully Cricket, Tug of War, Open DJ, Badminton, Soccer, and many more.
At the event youngsters and captivated everyone with their on the spot floor and wall paintings. Special Diet Food Corners and Kids Zone were also the main attractions of the event.
Furthermore, during an interactive session of “Coffee with Cops” in which Commissioner of Police Sh. Arpit Shukla said that people really enjoyed this initiative which has buoyant us to organize such events in future as well, “We truly appreciate CT Group of Institutions for organizing this event.”
Mr. Manbir Singh (Managing Director, CT Group of Institutions) said that the main purpose of the event is to encourage the people to start walking, cycling and planting more trees for a healthy living with different events. It is organized on Sunday to promote healthy lifestyle and remind the citizens to reclaim the streets as it belongs to them. He thanked all the supporters and participants for making this event a grand success.
