INSPIRE Innovative Scientific Idea Mega Competition from Class 6 to Class 12 Students

Chandigarh, November 7, 2016: DST Inspire Internship Program Centre, Panjab University (PU) invites applications
for INSPIRE Innovative Scientific Idea Mega Competition from class 6 to class 12 students. INSPIRE awards are established to encourage children to think independently and identify solutions for problems in their vicinity. Innovative scientific idea can be submitted on prescribed format either directly by the students or through their respective schools to Dr Anurag Kuhad, Program Coordinator, INSPIRE Internship Program Centre, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), PU on or before November 29, 2016.
There are three categories of students Category A includes class 6-8 students;Category B includes class 9-10 students and Category C includes class 11-12 students. In every category, based on sufficient number of entries top five best innovative ideas will be short-listed and will be awarded with cash prize/certificate during valedictory function of 4th DST INSPIRE Internship Camp on December 03, 2016. 1st Prize – 5000/-; 2nd Prize – 3000/-; 3rd Prize – 2000/-; 4th prize – 1500/- and 5th prize – 1000/-. The students are requested to write their innovative ideas (in English or Hindi or Punjabi in around 250 words) on the following key areas of priority identified by DST: Second Green Revolution; Renewable and non Renewable energy; Clean energy; Natural resources utilization for sustainability; Make in India; Swachh Bharat & Ganga Rejuvenation; Energy
conservation efficiency and sustainability; Harnessing Modern Technology for second green revolution; Dairy and Livestock Sector; Solid & Liquid Waste Management; Recycling & processing of waste to conserve resources; any other scientific idea of
societal benefit and/or of national importance.
The innovative ideas will be evaluated by a panel of senior faculty members from science departments of Panjab University. DST INSPIRE Internship Program Centre, Panjab University will forward selected ideas to DST for further evaluation. The DST
will rope in the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) to ascertain that innovative ideas submitted by children are in fact original. The NIF will be required to cross reference these innovative ideas across its database to ensure duplicitous or
recycled ones are eliminated. Innovative ideas that can be worked on by professionals and developed for commercial use will be further nurtured and intellectual property rights would be granted to children.
