Congress MP Bittu to help differently-abled needy persons

Ludhiana, June 22, 2016: Member of Parliament S.Ravneet Singh Bittu on Wednesday disclosed that nine special camps are being organised from June 30 to July 8 in Ludhiana Parliamentary Constituency so that the differently-abled needy persons of the constituency are provided with Mobility and Hearing Aids free of cost.
Ravneet said, this is a small initiative on our part to use politics to help the needy amongst us. We hope with this small step we would be able to help them in their day to day life. Among other things 633 Tri-Cycles, 190 Wheel Chairs, Hearing Aids to 1234 persons, Artificial Limbs to 144 persons, Crutches to 392 persons, Walking Sticks to 66 people, Braille Kits to 16 persons, Smart Canes to 17 persons, MSIED Kits to 118 students will be provided in the camps. In all, 4,746 appliances worth more than rupees two crore fifteen lakh would be distributed to 2,371 persons in these special camps, he informed.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the second half of August, nine camps in all the assembly segments of Ludhiana Constituency were organized to identify and ascertain the disability and the requirements of the needy.
Earlier, during his first stint as a Member of Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Ravneet had organized similar camps in which hearing and mobility aids worth Rs. 1 Crore 75 Lakh were distributed free of cost to 1636 needy persons.
