CMC OBSERVES WORLD HAND HYGIENE DAY – 2019
Ludhiana, May 4, 2019: “World Hand Hygiene Day” was observed by College of Nursing, Christian Medical College (CMC) & Hospital, Ludhiana at Government Primary School, Jamalpur, Ludhiana on 4th May, 2019 on the theme “Clean Care for all – It’s in your Hands”. Mr.Sanjeet Johnson, Associate Professor & Ms.Nisha Singh- Clinical Instructor conducted the programme under the guidance of Dr. Reena Jairus, Professor and Principal, College of Nursing, at CMC. The audience were students of 5th standard. Mrs.Janamdeep Kaur-Principal, Government Primary School, Jamalpur also expressed her views regarding Hand Hygiene. Mr. Sanjeet Johnson unfolded the theme and emphasized that it is important for the children to do hand washing before eating meals, after using toilets and also when hands are contaminated with soil or dirt. They need to keep their nails short to prevent deposition of dirt in the nails because if they eat with dirty hands it will lead to various health problems like, stomach-ache, nausea, vomiting or loose stools. Hand Hygiene is important for the people who handle food or work in the medical field. But it is also an important practice for the general public. People can become infected with respiratory illnesses such as influenza or common cold e.g. if they don’t wash their hands before touching the eyes, nose or mouth. B.Sc (Nursing) Interns (2015 Batch) performed a skit and also displayed posters regarding Hand Hygiene which were appreciated by the audience.
