CMC Observes HIV/AIDS Day

Ludhiana, November 30, 2017: Adolescents Month & HIV/AIDS Day celebrated on 30th November,2017 on the theme of” Right to Health for Adolescents” by Paediatric Nursing & Paediatric Medicine Department. Dr.Gurmeet Chaudhary, Unit Head of Paediatric medicine, CMC & Hospital Ludhiana spoke on topic of reproductive health of adolescents & stressed upon empowering adolescents about educating them on Family Life education. She also said that knowledge empowerment actually can bring down high risk behavior among adolescents”.

Dr.Monika Mehta from paediatric medicine department gave a speech on a topic of “Healthy lifestyle of adolescents by improving physical, emotional, social & dietary habits of adolescents. Mrs.Premlata Prakash, HOD Child Health Nursing department, CON CMC & Hospital presented a topic on Adolescents & HIV/AIDS through different perspectives especially Child Marriage & prevention of stigma on HIV/AIDS among Adolescents. M.sc Nursing&B.sc Nursing 3rd year & GNM 1st year students participated in the programme with the means of poster competition & role play. Judges for poster competition were Dr. Usha Singh (HOD, Mental Health Nursing Department) , Dr. SaumitraSaha of Paeditric Surgery Department, Mr. Sanjeet (Assistant Prof., Community Health Nursing Department).

Results were declared & prizes were distributed to the students. 1st prize –Monika, 2nd& 3rd prize- Nitika& consolation – Nancy GNM 1st year. Certificates were also distributed to all the participants. Principal Prof.(Mrs.) Ponnamma R. Singh encouraged & supported the students for conducting the Awareness programme. Mrs.Richa Justin Hans, Assistant professor proposed the vote of thanks. Punjab Adolescents health academy sponsored the gifts & certificates.
