Jalandhar, September 10, 2015: 09 Sep is celebrated as “Asal Uttar Day”. During 1965 India-Pakistan war, this small village near Khem Karan had witnessed the largest tank battle ever fought after Second World War. On this day, Indian Armed Forces had destroyed around 90 Pakistani Patton tanks. To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the sacrifice made by the men in Uniform, Punjab state government organized Golden Jubilee celebration at Assal Uttar on 09 Sep 2015. Chief Minister of Punjab Mr Prakash Singh Badal was the chief guest.
The Rising Star Cycling Expedition which is being organized to commemorate the overall victory of Indian Armed Forces in1965 war reached Asal Uttar on 09 Sep 15 to be the part of this celebration. The team was flagged in by the Chief Minister of Punjab Mr Prakash Singh Badal in presence of Lt Gen KJ Singh, Army Commander, Western Command, along with large gathering of war veterans, veer naris and others. The chief minister interacted with the team and applauded them for the great initiative and wished them for the journey ahead.
The Rising Star Cycling Expedition will further continue their journey to ultimately become the part of mega Carnival on 20th Sep 15 at Rajpath, New Delhi.
