Samrala/Ludhiana, December 5, 2015: For making direct contact with people and understanding their problems and needs , Deputy Commissioner Mr Rajat Agarwal and Khanna SSP Mr Gurpreet Singh Gill today held a series of meetings with people from 13 villages of Samrala Sub Division. These meetings were well received by village Panchayats, prominent people and commoners.

      On the first day, meetings were organised at village Maadpur where residents of village Maadpur, Khattran, Ghulal and Bijlipur, at Village Todarpur, residents of Todarpur, Herian, Kotla and Gahlewal, at village Hedon Bet, residents of villages Hedon Bet, Barsal Kalan, Hambowal Bet, Salana Bet and Raipur Bet. They were also accompanied by ADC Khanna Mr Ajay Sood, SDM Samrala Miss Anuprita Johal, besides other senior officers.

      While addressing the meetings, DC Mr Agarwal and SSP Mr Gill said that the Punjab government is committed for reaching out to common people for their works. They said that the Punjab government is committed that people get their works done without any political interference. They said that is why they have organised these meetings so that they can have first hand feedback directly from the village residents.

      The Deputy Commissioner heard problems related to revenue department, Aanganwari';s located in different schools, blue/red cards, distribution of ration through government depots, ongoing development works, pensions, cleaning of village ponds, besides several others, and issued directions to the staff that all these issues should be resolved on priority basis. He assured people that works in government offices are carried without any political interference.

     Mr Rajat Agarwal appealed to the Panchayat';s that they should keep close watch on the working of government and semi government departments in their respective villages and if they find any discrepancies, they should inform the senior officials immediately. He said that the ongoing development works in villages are being completed within stipulated time frame.

      Mr Agarwal also appealed to the Panchayat';s that they should make efforts to check stray cattle in their areas and assist the District Administration in this regard. He urged the elderly people that at the time of their will, they should also write that in case their children don';t take care of them in their old age, then they would not have any right on their property. "If this thing is written in the will, they can get it changed at any stage," said the DC.

      When the DC asked the Panchayat';s about the working of Khanna Police, all villagers appreciated them. They said that the Khanna Police has made all efforts to maintain peace and communal harmony in the area. SSP Mr Gurpreet Singh Gill urged the villagers to assist the police in all matters related to law and order.
