CHANNI APPEALS TO ROTARY FOR ASSOCIATION IN PUNJAB GOVERNMENT PROJECTS

An initiative to provide employment to youth of state
Chandigarh, May 29, 2017: The Punjab Technical Education Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi has appealed to all the Rotarians to join hands with the state government to provide vocational training to the youth of Punjab under the skill development mission to make them fully competent for the present and future needs of the global industry. He was addressing the Rotarians of the five states Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pardesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Union Territory Chandigarh who participated in the two day seminar on district leadership organized by rotary district 3080 at hotel Mount View Chandigarh.

Mr. Channi said that Punjab Government is ready to tie up with the Rotary clubs to train the youth of the state to provide them jobs under skill development project.

The Technical Education Minister said that the Rotarians can play a major role in providing vocational training and fulfill the promise of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led government to provide one job per family to the youth. He said that the Punjab Government is also working on the criteria to provide financial assistance to the Rotary clubs to setup skill development centers in the state in a joint venture.

Mr. Channi also stressed upon the need to train the youth in the field of water supply and sanitation sector and said that this sector has a big scope to provide employment opportunities to the skilled youth.

Mr. Rajendra K. Saboo former Rotary International President addressing on the occasion said that rotary international undertakes various social service projects relating to health, education, water & sanitation and environmental matters. He said that under the ‘gift of life’ project in Fortis hospital SAS, Nagar more than 600 poor children having hole in their hearts have been successfully treated.

Mr. Saboo further said that they are ready to work jointly with the Punjab government to provide vocational training to the youth to make them skilled for the employment opportunities as per the needs of the global world.
