Punjab reflects improvement in Family Planning services of PPIUCD

Chandigarh , March 3, 2017: The Punjab Health Department organized State Level Family Planning Annual Review meeting at DHS office Sector 34-A Chandigarh under the guidance of Family Planning Division of the Government of India to review the performance of various indicators of Programme like Sterilization, PPIUCD, IUCD, NSV were discussed in detail. Punjab has shown a considerable improvement in the family planning services of PPIUCD. The family planning services provided in the State directly helps in decreasing Maternal Mortality Ratio and also prevents unwanted pregnancies by providing Safe Comprehensive abortion services to take care of unwanted pregnancies.
Anew and innovative contraceptive packaging wereintroduced by Government of India. Launch of safe and convenient injectable contraceptive Antara which is soon to be launched in the State was discussed.Strengthening of community based distribution of contraceptives by involving ASHA(Accredited Social Health Activist) and focused IEC/BCC efforts for enhancing demand and creative awareness on family planning was stressed with 360 degree media campaign. Strengthening of data and all newer guidelines issued by Honorable Supreme court to provide quality Family Planning Services was assured by Director Health Services that State was already following. Dr S.K.Sikdar Deputy Commissioner, Family Planning,Government of India, Dr H.S. Bali, Director Health and Family Welfare and Dr Dharam Pal, Director Family Welfare,addressed the workshop which was attended by Civil Surgeons, District Nodal officers from the State of Punjab.
