Chandigarh News/Shivraj V.Patil inaugurates International Conference on Sustainable Development

Chandigarh, December 4, 2013: The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Shivraj V.Patil, while presiding over International Conference on Sustainable Development organized by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab and other organisations, here today, said that correct Policies and Laws needs to be made and should implemented effectively, to get desired results. He said the subject of today’s conference was of great importance, which means that we need development in such a manner that future of the people should not affect. He said unless we adopt a holistic approach you should not have Sustainable Development. He said for this was required is Knowledge, Information, new kinds of sciences and technologies, which would help in fulfilling the demands of the people of not Punjab, India but of entire world.
Patil said He said the governments, organisations and institutions in the country can help a great deal in creating an ambience in which interaction and cooperation between the nations becomes easier. He said need of the hour is to speak to those who are in the governments, and also to those who are in the society, only then, things would be done in a proper manner.
The Governor  said that we should not create fear by saying that, human beings may not have food to eat, may not have energy to develop, and may not be able achieve all that they need they hold that our globe. He said if the land and the oceans are fully used which has the capacity to produce and make available all the food that is needed, not only by human beings, but also for living creatures and things. Therefore, he said that most important thing was that all human beings should join hands to get all they need from the land, the oceans, and the space, and cooperate with one another rather than compete with one another, and try to be stronger and in a position to dominate one another. He said Only then, there would be peace and tranquility in the world and the countries and the societies, only then the production can increase and just distribution can be done, only then, the environment can be increased, only then the sustainable developed in all parts of the world, the country can be brought about, he added.
