CGC Jhanjeri celebrated Diwali with theme plastic free planet

Mohali, October 24, 2019: CGC Jhanjeri organized awareness rally on Plastic Pollution. The event begin from the MC Office Mohali.MC Commissioner, Bhajinder Singh Commissioner (IAS) motivated the students not to use plastic bags and celebrate green Diwali. NCC cadets of CGC Jhanjeri distributed the jute and paper bag inside the MC Office. Students later, at Phase – 7, briefed the residents about the plastic pollution and illuminated them not to use plastic in their day to day life in various activities including street play , speeches, poems etc . The acts aimed at spreading awareness against the pollution caused during Diwali festival. Students emphasized on protecting the environment by minimizing the pollution by refraining from use of crackers. While speaking at the moment Director General Dr.G D Bansal CGC Jhanjeri said that Diwali has brought a light of joy but the pollution caused by the fire crackers that are burst caused damaged to the environment .He further urged residents to give a thought to the environmental pollution and the effects of it on the living beings. According to him besides pollution firecrackers can cause hearing loss, high blood pressure, sleeping disturbances and sudden exposure to loud noise can cause temporary or permanent deafness or even result in heart attack. So Diwali should be celebrated as festival of lights & pollution free. Later , students & audience took pledge a smoke –cracker free Diwali this year & gifts were distributed to the audience.
