Bajwa conducts surprise checks at head office, many officers and employees found absent

Chandigarh, November 1, 2017: To ensure timely attendance of the officers and employees in the offices and provide hassle free and timely services to the people, the Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Mr.Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today conducted surprise checks at the head office of the Rural Development and Panchayat Department. During this surprise checking, many senior officials and employees reached the office late and many were also found absent.

In a press release issued here today, an official spokesman said that the Rural Development and Panchayat Minister reached Vikas Bhawan head office of the department at 9.00 am. He found only 15 percent of the officials and employees reached the office by 9.10 am and 50 percent of the employees by 9.30 am. The Minster gave one chance to all these employees who reached till 9.30 am issuing them a verbal warning.

The Minister, taking serious note of this irregularity, directed the senior officials of the department to issue explanation letter to all the officers & employees who came after 9.30 am and who were found absent.

Mr. Bajwa said that the government officials were being paid salaries for performing their duties, therefore the employees should work with dedication, honesty and punctuality. He said that strict action would be taken against absentees and non performing officials and employees. He further said that such regular surprise checks would also be conducted at district and block offices.

Mr. Bajwa issued strict instructions to the officers and employees of the department associated with public dealing related seats that due respect should be given to the people while dealing. The officials should maintain proper discipline and deal politely with the public. He said that erring attitude of the officials and employees with the people would not be tolerated. He said that no person should be unnecessarily harassed for their work in the offices.
