Bajwa condemns police lathicharge on Punjabi University students

Chandigarh, November 20, 2014: The Punjab Congress President, Partap Singh Bajwa, today condemned the police lathi-charge on the agitating students of the Punjabi University, Patiala.

In a statement, Bajwa said the tyrannical government of Parkash Singh Badal was out to crush every section of society raising voice for the genuine demands. He said the Punjabi University students have been agitating demanding reduction in fee and other issues concerning the students on the campus.

However, instead of finding a solution to their concerns across the table, the authorities had unleashed brutal lathicharge on the students who were agitating peacefully.

The PPCC chief expressed his party’s full solidarity with the agitation students. He urged the university authorities to accept their genuine demands.

He said in a democratic set up, it was the right of the people to raise their demands peacefully and the same could not be crushed by police repression.
