An acumen into Diabetes- Richard I.G Holt, Professor in Diabetes and Endocrinology, University of Southampton, UK

Jalandhar: During 106th Indian Science Congress at LPU, Richard I.G Holt, Professor in Diabetes and Endocrinology, University of Southampton, UK discussed disabilities in the pre-insulation era, advancements during the 20th century, modern insulin analogues and a glimpse into the increasing problem of diabetes. He also shed light on the development of NPH insulin, injections and pumps. More than 60 million people are suffering from this epidemic disease. Further, it is also a major reason of many mental aliments such as depression and anxiety. There are numerous treatments to help people to overcome this disease. Prof. Richard talked about the developments of insulin. In culmination, he stated that good education and good interaction can provide the solutions to the people suffering from this illness. This Symposium helps to highlight the major challenges of the diabetic people as well as the solution for the same.
