Ludhiana, December 31, 2018: Five days of expert talks and hands-on practice sessions in the form of Short Term Course (STC) has been started by the Information Technology Department of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. This Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) STC entitled “AI, Big Data and HPC Aligned Applications - A Modern Approach of Computing” is inaugurated in the Consultancy Seminar Hall of the Institute on Monday.
Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, Director, Computer Centre at Panjab University, Chandigarh was invited as Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker for this programme. Dr. Singh pointed out various innovative ideas implemented at the industry and government level for the concern of Artificial Intelligence and High Performance Computing. Guest of Honour Mr. Ramandeep Singh Suri from Raman Software, Ludhiana elaborated the roles of social media and cloud computing in this course. He shared his experiences of hurdles and motivations with the audience. Dr. Kuldeep Kumar from Dr. B.R.Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar discussed the topics of Practical Approach to Research Methodologies and Industry-Academic Research Trends in Computing. He demonstrated the contents by sharing live examples. Dr. Kiran Jyoti, HOD (IT) and Faculty Coordinator of this course discussed her views on social network analysis and big data deluge.
While interacting with media; Dr. Pankaj Bhambri, the course coordinator of this programme conveyed that this course is organized with the objectives to expose the faculty/ research scholars/ industry based persons in emerging technologies and to provide the practical foundation level training that enables insight into digital disruption and accelerating machine learning on AI through performance libraries and platforms. Dr. Bhambri informed that the course contents for this STC includes AI, Bigdata & HPC aligned applications; Exposure to Analysis; Interpretation of Data; AI, Big Data & HPC Research Methods; Exploration of Contemporary Research in Teaching Learning; Real Life Implementation Scenarios; Case Studies and Lab Sessions. About 50 faculty members, research scholars and industry persons from different parts of the country are participating in this Short Term Course. Dr. Kiran Jyoti expressed that Faculty Members of renowned institutes like IIT Ropar, NIT Jalandhar, Panjab University Chandigarh, NITTTR Chandigarh, GNDEC Ludhiana etc. and real time software professional from reputed industries like Sabudh Foundation New Delhi, U.Net Solutions Moga, AlertEnterprise Chandigarh etc. will share their research and innovation experiences among the participants.
Principal of GNDEC, Ludhiana Dr. Sehijpal Singh informed that there is a huge scope of skill enhancement in the disciplines of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Using big data; the companies can enhance their sales strategies with prior predictions. He conveyed that the job aspects are very bright for the experienced data scientists within and outside India. He also applauded the efforts of Dr. Kiran Jyoti and Dr. Pankaj Bhambri for their utmost attempt to make this STC a big success.
