70 senior citizens attended health talk at Morinda
Morinda, April 28, 2019: As many as 70 senior citizens attended a health talk on ‘how to prevent heart diseases’ at Senior Citizen Council, Morinda today which was organised by Ivy Hospital, Mohali. Among others, Principal Amarjeet Singh Dhiman and Harmeet Singh, president and general secretary of council respectively were also presented during occasion. Addressing talk, Dr Ankur Ahuja, director-cardiology at Ivy Hospital said that said that heart diseases have now emerged as the leading causes of death and illness and every year more than 17-million people die because of this. The western countries have reduced the heart disease related deaths by 50% in the last decade but in India it has risen 3-fold, he pointed out. He emphasized to adopt healthy lifestyle and remain fit to enjoy a healthy life span. About 80% of lifestyle diseases are preventable by simple steps like regular walk at least 30-minute per day, eating more fruits and vegetables , quitting active smoking , preventing passive smoking besides learn to combat stress by exercise, yoga and listening music, informed Dr Ahuja.
