50 UNEMPLOYED GIRLS OF BORDER AREA GET JOBS IN VARDHMAN COMPANY AFTER THREE MONTHS TRAINING UNDER SKILL DEVELOPMENT MISSION

FEROZEPUR, June 4, 2019: Taking a stride towards empowering the women living around border areas of Ferozepur, the district administration has successfully got employed 50 girls with Ludhiana based Vardhman Yarn and Thread Limited company after giving them a three months training under Punjab Skill Development Mission.

Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind today flagged for two buses carrying all the girls to their company’s unit to Ludhiana. On this occasion Inderjit Kaur, wife of Congress MLA from Ferozepur (Urban) Parminder Singh Pinki was also present.

Giving details, DC Gaind said that the selection of these girls has been made under the Border Area Development Program (BADP) to empower the women of these remote areas. “After the selection, the three months trains of stitching skill had been provided to the selected girls. After the completion of their training, the district administration found them a job in the suitable trade”, added Gaind.

The DC said that it is Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh's vision to incorporate the skill development mission and Ghar Ghar Rojgar Yojna so that the training and recruitment can go hand in hand.

Giving more detail, the DC said that under Punjab Skill Development Mission , the Guru Nanak Dev Education and Charitable society has been enrolled as a training partner and all the training has been provided by the society. The DC asked the Chairman of the society Vikram Singh Bath to foster the efforts being made under the mission to give skill training and jobs to the unemployed youth.

On this occasion The General Manager (HR) of Vardhman Company Shiv Kumar stated that all the selected employees will have one and a half months training and while training they will be entrusted with a stipend. After the completion of the training period a handsome salary will be given to them along with first-class Hostel and food facilities on subsided rates, said Shiv Kumar.

He further said that social security like provident fund, insurance, ESI will also be provided to the employees. Company has some schemes for the employees who want to study further and for those getting married as an aid, which will also be availed to the selected employees.

While interacting with the girls Inderjit Kaur said that the Punjab Government is committed to provide jobs to unemployed youth and to fulfill this promise the job fairs are being organized across the state.

She said that the health, education and basic infrastructure is Congress government’s priority area, where special focus is being laid as Ferozepur district is among inspirational districts of the country.
