Ludhiana, September 8, 2015: Two-Day LIC North Zone Athletic Meet 2015 started today which was inaugurated by Sh.D.C.Thakur, Senior Divisional Manager, Ludhiana Division. While inaugurating this meet he told that 53 Athletes from 13 Divisions of LIC i.e Ajmer, Amritsar, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Jodhpur, Karnal, Rohtak, Shimla, Udaipur and the host Division Ludhiana will be taking part in the meet. Prominent athletes like Ms. Gurmeet Kaur, Arjuna Awardee. Represented country in the Olympic Games 2000 & Asian Games 2002. Won Bronze Medal at the 1stAfro-Asian Games 2003. Won National Championships in the event of Javelin Throw on many occasions & Ms. Vinita Tripathi, Amit Tyagi, Sunil Goswami, P.J.Singh national record holders have participated in this meet.
Final Result (Men):
Sh. P.J.Singh from Bikaner won Gold medal by 32.50 mtrs where as won silver medal in Discuss throw by 37.35.
Amit Tyagi from Delhi got gold medal in discuss throw by 38.50 mts whereas Kuldeep Sisngh from Karnal got silver in discuss throw by 26.10 mtrs.
In Hiigh Jump & Tripple Jimp Ritesh Kumar from Delhi won gold medal by 2.08 & 11.48 respectively, Sunder Singh got silver bny 1.40 and Ashok Saharan from Bikaner got bronze by 1.35.
In Tripple Jump Deepak Kumar got from Rohtak silver medal by 10.56 & Sh. Gurnam Singh from Shimla got bronze medal by 9.80.
Final Result (Women):
Ankita Julka from Delhi won Gold Medal in Shot Put & Discuss throw by 10.85 & 46.22 respectively whereas Gurmeet Kaur from Delhi won Gold medal in Jevelin Throw by 34.50 & Silver Medal in Shot Put & Discus throw by 9.92 & 32.10 respectively.
In 100 mtrs Vinita Nathani from Delhi won Gold Medal by 13.17.
Under 200 mtrs Renu Sharma from Delhi won Gold Medal by 28.35 & in Long Jump by 4.40. Under Hammer throw event Sarita Bajaj from Delhi won gold medal by 27.80.
Tomorrow, the events are 100 mtrs (Men), Long Jump (Men), 10000 (Men), Jevelin throw (Men) which will at 9.30 am and final 100 mts race will be held at 11.00 am.
