Ludhiana, October 4, 2015: CBSE Cluster XVI Basket Ball Tournament 2015, taking place at B.C.M. Senior Secondary School, Sector 32 A, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana from 1 to 4 October, came to a Grand finale at 3 pm on 4 October 2015 in Mata ThakurDevi Hall of the Institute.
Sh. Teja Singh Dhaliwal, Secretary Punjab Basket Ball Association graced the occasion as the chief guest and gave away the prizes and individual medals to the winners. BCM Senior Secondary School Girls became the proud winners of this under 19 Basket Ball Tournament. Baba FArid Public School, Faridkot bagged the first runner-up trophy and Doraha Public School Doraha secured the second runner-up position.
In Boys category Springdale Public School Amritsar emerged as the winners while Police DAV Jalandhar and Police DAV Amritsar became the first and second runner ups respectively.
The four day long tournament concluded with an elaborated valedictory ceremony starting with Guard of Honour to the revered guests and a group song by the school students. The school Principal Sh. D. P. Guleria Principal felicitated the chief guest with floral welcome and addressed the spectators. The chief guest Shri Teja Singh spoke on the importance of sports and inspired the students to carry on with the true sportsmanship in every walk of life. The players took great pride in receiving winners’ trophies and individual medals given away by the chief guest. The school manager Sh. S.K. Mehta presented a vote of thanks and quoted about true sportsmanship saying, “It is knowing that you need your opponent because without him or her, there is no game. Knowing that, win or lose, you will walk off the course with pride. Always taking the high road. And always, always, always being a good sport.”
The students presented a jubilant and scintillating M.J. dance to celebrate the occasion. An outstanding demonstration of yoga performance entranced the audience. And lastly the tournament was declared closed with the lowering of flags and the national anthem.
