18 officers caught red handed in graft cases during July

Chandigarh, August 7, 2014: Acting swiftly and with iron hand against the corrupt officers, The Punjab Vigilance Bureau in the month of July, 2014, has been successful in nabbing 18 officers red handed while receiving the bribe. During this month, the Bureau has completed the inquiry in various cases, subsequently; challans of nine cases were filed before the courts.
Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that during the month of July, 2014, eighteen officers/officials were caught red handed accepting bribe and cases under Prevention of Corruption Act-1988 were registered against all these officers. Four criminal cases were also in the month of July.
The spokesman further said that during the hearing of another cases filed by Vigilance Bureau, the courts have pronounced sentenced to in three bribery cases. He said that Vigilance Bureau has also initiated fresh inquiries in four other cases.
