CMC hospital Observes Pediatrics Surgery Awareness Week

Ludhiana, November 16, 2017: Paediatric Surgery Awareness Week is being observed at CMC Hospital, Ludhiana from 12th November to 19th November, 2017 by Paediatric Surgery and Child Health Nursing Department (College of Nursing). On 14th November Children’s day was celebrated during which by Mrs.Richa Justin, Assistant Professor and Mrs.Jatinder Kaur, Clinical Instructor gave talked and created awareness on nutritional deficiency disorders ( Folic Acid Deficiency).
Ms.Kanika Sharma M.Sc Nursing student taught the parents how to conduct nutritional assessment at home. On 16th November awareness was given on the topic of common paediatric surgical problems in children, Dr. William Bhatti, Professor & Head, Department of Paediatric Surgery spoke on common surgical problems in children and importance of paediatric surgical problem to be managed by paediatric surgeons.
Mrs. Premlata Prakash, Associate Professor& HOD of Child Health Nursing Department(College of Nursing) spoke on role of nurses on prevention and management of paediatric surgical common problems in children. Mr. Rohit Lazarus, M.Sc Nursing student conducted a study on foreign body aspiration and distributed information pamphlets on first aid management of foreign body aspiration.
Poster competition also held on the topic common paediatric surgical problems in children by B.Sc Nursing 3rdyear students and judges for the competition were Dr. Nandini K Bedi, Dr. InderpreetSohi, and Mrs. Neeta Austin Singh. The winners of this completion were: First prize Ms. Shreya Thakur, Second prize Ms. Nitika and third prize Ms. Snell Anna. Consolation prizes were given to Ms. Anugrah Victor and Ms. Glory.
Dr. SoumitraSaha, Assistant Professor from department of Paediatrics Surgery gave vote of thanks for the efforts of the college of nursing, especially to Mrs. (Prof.)Ponnamma R Singh, Principal, College of Nursing and Dr. Vishal Michael for their co - operation and guidance.
