Protesting Atrocities on Dalits in Punjab, BJP leaders assaulted with water canon

Chandigarh, June 19, 2017: Repeated assault by police with water canon could not deter the spirit of dalits gathered from all over Punjab under the banner of SC Morcha Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab to protest against the sudden rise in atrocities on Dalits in Punjab and non-fulfillment of pre-poll promises by CM Captain Amarinder. Pre Poll promises like one job per SC family, free house for homeless SCs, waiving off unpaid SC loans, etc.
Dalit protestors led by BJP Punjab's General Secretary Kewal Kumar, Vice President Rj Kumar Pathi & Secretary Vineet Joshi, SC Morcha BJP Punjab's State president Manjit Bali and General Secretary Rajinder Khatri, Ex CPS Seema Kumari, Ex MLA Mohan Lal Banga were vociferous against steep rise in atrocities on dalits after the formation of Congress Government in Punjab.
Dalits are the most effected lot, their daughters/ women are molested/ raped, mighty people are dispossessing them from their lands, paraded naked, beating them mercilessly, killing them, trying to burn them alive and all this either by or at the behest of local Congress leaders, alleged Manjit Bali.
CM Punjab has completed three month in office but none of his pre poll promise made via election manifesto has seen light of the day, accused Joshi. The promises to which the present state government has turned blind eye are as under:
• Preparation of Special Component Plan and submit it to Punjab Vidhan Sabha along with annual budget for approval.
• Free education upto graduation and free education for SC girls upto any level.
• 10 % reservation in all private educational institutes to ensure free education in professional engineering, management and medical colleges with expenditure of boarding & lodging to be borne by Government.
• Disbursal of Post Matric Scholarship on time.
• To clear existing backlog in Government jobs in time bound manner
• Housing for houseless SCs.
• Free health and life insurance to all SC families with an annual income less than Five Lacs.
• Employment at least for one member of each family.
• 300 units of free electricity.
• Raising amount under shagun scheme to Rs 51000.
• Dr BR Ambedkar Community centers in all the blocks of Punjab.
• Waiver of outstanding loans upto Rs 50,000 raised by poor SCs from SCFC.
• Creation of Venture Capital Fund of Rs 100 crore to encourage SC youth to start their own venture.
• To make reservation applicable for SCs in contractual / outsourced appointments.
• To reserve seats for SCs in appointment of Chairman, Vice Chairman, members and directors of the Trusts, Boards and Corporations.
SC Morcha BJP asked Captain Amarinder to take concrete time bound steps to full fill pre poll promises or else Morcha will be forced to launch state wide agitation.
