Visit of Textile Commissioner to Ludhiana Integrated Textile Park

Ludhiana, July 13, 2014: Textile Commissioner Kiran Soni Gupta was gracious enough to visit Ludhiana Integrated Textile Park. She was given warm welcome in the meeting held with the Directors of the Textile Park and office bearers of Knitwear Club, Ludhiana. She appreciated the progress of the textile park being developed and expressed satisfaction at commencement of production in two units. She exhorted for speeding up the construction work so that desired number of units can start functioning by the year end.   
Prominent among those present were Drashan Dawar, Narinder Miglani, Sudershan Jain, Dinesh Lakra,  Jaswant Lal Takkar, Ramesh Garg, Pankaj Chopra, Subhash Aggarwal, Arun Aggrawal, Raj Mittal from Ludhiana and Naresh Kumar and Shakti from Regional Textile Commissioner Office Amritsar.  Difficulties being faced by the Knitwear/ Textile industry were brought to her notice to which she gave a very patient hearing and assured that everything will be done to mitigate and ameliorate the situation.  They emphasised upon the worthy commissioner the need to help establish a training centre for the benefit of poor and needy youth which will act as stepping stone for doing away with the evil of unemployment and overcome shortage of skilled labour in Knitwear/ Textile industry.
Demand for setting up exhibition centre at Ludhiana was also put forward explaining that such a step will save crores of rupees which otherwise are spent on erection and dismantling the temporary structures.
The difficulties faced in respect of TUFS also came up during the discussion to which she was quite sympathetic and assured to take care of the issue at appropriate forum.
