VB arrests District Child security Officer Shilpa Jindal and her brother Rohit
Ludhiana, November 7, 2014: Satinder Singh, SSP, Vigilance Bureau, Ludhiana has said District Child security Officer Shilpa Jindal, her brother Rohit Jindal and still, another person have been arrested under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
They have been booked and arrested on a complaint filed by Paramjit Kaur.
Both Shilpa and Rohit with the latter’s employee Ravi Prakash Dubey, allegedly made a plan to pocket bribe money the complainant for shifting her grand-daughter to Pingalwara in Amritsar. Rohit, allegedly impersonated as a senior officer and demanded a bribe of Rs.70,000 from the complainant. However, the deal was struck for Rs. 50,000.
On Friday, Shilpa and Rohit sent Dubey to collect money from the complainant when a team of vigilance Bureau caught him while accepting bribe money.
Shilpa and Rohit were also arrested later on.
In her complaint to VB, the complainant had stated that her son-in-law MD Abdulla was lodged in Tihar Jail at Delhi and her seven-year-old grand-daughter was living with her. She further stated that Abdullah had written a letter to the Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare demanding that his daughter be taken care by the government. The Ministry forwarded this letter to a concerned department of Punjab Government. Finally, the letter came to Shilpa Jindal who put the matter with Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana. Then, DC, Ludhiana issued orders that the child to be shifted to the All India Pingalwara Society at Amritsar through the state’s social security department. On being contact, Paramjit Kaur was asked by Shilpa Jindal to contact her senior Pankaj in this connection. However, after her arrest Shilpa told VB that there was no person namely Pankaj in her office. Rather, it was her brother Rohit Jindal who met the complainant and demanded money to settle down the things.
