Valedictory function of ICES-19 concludes with honouring empowered women across globe
Jalandhar, March 8, 2019: At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar Valedictory session of ICES-2019 became indelibly etched in memories as it happened to fall on the International Women's Day. The celebration commenced with the formal honouring and acknowledgment of the special contribution of eight ladies across the globe present for the conference. They were Ms Gloria Mei Chwo from Taiwan, Dr Wen Chi Vivian(Taiwan), Yu Chuan Joni Chao(Taiwan), Dr Malavika Shetty, Boston University, USA, Ms Francoise Nunn, UAE, Dr Prabhjot Parmar from Fraser Valley, Canada amongst other eminent women dignitaries. Principal KMV Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi was also honoured along with the others by Sh. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal, Punjab. Prof. Roger Nunn from ESBB in his special remarks on the day averred that his stay for the conference had been a complete cultural and holistic experience. He also appreciated the interdisciplinary activities as an integral part of teaching at KMV. On the occasion, Prof. SivaKumar SivaSubramanian, South Africa averred that coming to KMV was like a pilgrimage which have brought new hope and new direction. Prof. Z.N. Patil maintained that the conference had given freshness to his attitude towards language and appreciated the large participation of the students. In his address the Chief Guest, Sh. Chander Mohan ji, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal thanked the luminaries from across borders for sparing invaluable time to share the pool of knowledge and experience and let it flow like a river at KMV. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi in her concluding remarks said that the aim of the conference was to provide an apt platform for refining thoughts, sharing concerns and receiving constructive feedback from students, delegates, paper presenters which had made the experience enabling and enriching over the three days. The Valedictory session concluded with a standing ovation for the organizing team's leader Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi and the organizing team itself. The day's proceedings concluded with paper presentations at five different venues chaired by Mzukisi Howard Cope, Eastern Cape, Dept. of Education, South Africa, Ms Mohini Shard, Former Director, Women Studies Centre, KMV, Jalandhar, Dr Sandhya Bhandare Sequeira, HOD, Department of English, MES College of Arts & Commerce, Goa, Dr Yubee Gill, GNDU, Amritsar and Ms Satinder Kaur, Former HOD, PG Department of English, KMV.
