US ambassador in India, Richard R Verma seen interacting with scholars and faculty of GNDU, Amritsar on Wednesday.

Amritsar, May 21, 2015: During his visit to the GND University, Amritsar US ambassador in India, Richard R Verma interacted with the scholars and faculty of the Guru Nanak Dev University, in the Conference hall of the University on Wednesday. He visited University under the US Embassy's outreach programme.

Verma referred to his diplomatic experiences during the interaction between the heads of two nations. The current times in which he is steering the US policies in India, he said are the conducive times where the connect between two largest democracies at Govt. levels now is coupled with the people to people connect that was always there in the yesteryears. He talked about various strategic partnerships between the two nations and said “if India and US work together, it is not only that the two nations shall be benefitted, but the two together shall be able to deliver significantly for the rest of the world”. He expressed happiness for being appointed as the US Ambassador to India when the partnership between the two countries and the people was growing stronger. He answered questions that were posed to him on issues like Nuclear Treaty, Intellectual Property Rights, Indo-Pak Relations and the increasing global terrorism.

A.S. Brar, Vice-Chancellor extended words of welcome to the ambassador on reaching the University and talked about the achievements of the University in the fields of academics, sports and cultural activities. Prof. Paramjit Singh, Dean Academic Affairs introduced the Ambassador and Prof. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrar presented a vote of thanks.
