PAU To Hold Training Courses For Farmers, Farm Women, Parents And School Children

Ludhiana, June 11, 2015: The Directorate of Extension Education (DEE) of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will hold a training course on “Enhancing Creative and Culinary Skills among Children” from June 22-26. School children and their parents will participate in the course. Meanwhile, another training course on “Preservation of Fruits and Vegetables at Household Level” will be conducted jointly by DEE and the Department of Food Science and Technology from July 6-10. Farmers and farm women from different parts of Punjab will attend the course. Divulging details, Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education said the course on creative and culinary skills will equip the trainees with painting skills, learning of basic hand embroidery stitches, and macramé knotting. Besides, experts will give demonstrations on the preparation of snacks and drinks, candle making and diya decoration, creative toys for children, and paper quilling, he added. Regarding course on preservation of fruits and vegetables, Dr Sidhu said the trainees will be imparted practical training in the preparation of squashes, sharbats, synthetic vinegar, mango and pineapple murabas, jams, guava jelly, potato chips, pickles, papad, mango and tomato chutney, tomato sauce and puree.
