Truth will come out in allegations against Robert Vadra, says Modi

New Delhi, May 8 (IANS) The BJP government in Rajasthan was following due procedures over allegations concerning land deals of Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra and the truth will be revealed, said Narendra Modi.

In an interview to Times Now news channel telecast Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate said no one can accuse him of vendetta.

Answering questions about Vadra's land deals in Haryana and Rajasthan and his being described as "Damad Shree (son-in-law)" by the BJP, Modi said the Rajasthan government was following due procedures and "when truth has to be revealed, it will be revealed".

He said corruption was a major issue in the election.

"So many cheap and false allegations have been levelled against me. You have no time to acknowledge them. But if BJP reveals all the facts to the nation, you call it vendetta. What kind of justice are you doing?" he said.

Asked about the Vasundhra Raje government not initiating a formal probe against Vadra since it came to power in December last, Modi said it was proof of the fact that "we work on the basis of facts and don't take political decision in haste".

"What Kapil Sibal and company is doing against us, we could have done the same thing in Jaipur. But we don't believe in that. We are proceeding based on facts and we are following the judicial process."

"If Vasundharaji would have done that in January, would you have called it vendetta...You would have done that. What else would you have done? They are peacefully following the government procedures. When the truth has to be revealed, it will be revealed," Modi added.

The BJP had last month accused Vadra of making "unscrupulous" land deals and sought a fair investigation into "corruption under patronage".

The party said that land acquisitions by Vadra's firms had flouted several laws, including the Land Acquisition Act in Congress-ruled Haryana and in Rajasthan where the party was earlier in power.
