Training Course On Agro-Processing Complexes Concludes At PAU

Ludhiana, June 1, 2016: A three-day training course on “Agro-Processing Complexes” concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The course was organized in the Department of Processing and Food Engineering, PAU, for the benefit of farmers and young entrepreneurs. It was conducted under ICAR funded Consortia Research Project on “Secondary Agriculture (establishment of agro-processing centre for food grains and spices).” The training covered primary and secondary processing techniques for the major crops of Punjab along with feed milling, honey processing, AGMARK certification and subsidy issues for agro-industries.

In his remarks, Dr A.K. Singh, Head, Department of Processing and Food Engineering, encouraged the farmers to take up primary processing of food grain crops to augment their income and generate employment in the rural areas.

Dr M.S. Alam, Coordinator and Dr Tarsem Chand, Co-Coordinator, advised the farmers to set-up agro-processing complexes for income enhancement and quality assurance of processed products.
