Three Week Refresher Course in Computer Science, Electronics, IT& Engineering Applications concludeds at GNDU

Amritsar, December 15, 2014:  A “Three Week Refresher Course in Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology & Engineering  Applications" concluded here on Monday at Academic Staff College of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 20 University and College teachers from the different parts of the country participated.

 Rajeev Vij, Scientist F & Joint Director, Institute of Nuclear Medicine & allied Sciences( INMAS),Defence Research & Development Organisation( DRDO), New Delhi was the Chief Guest at the valedictory session.  Vij in his valedictory address lauded the endeavor of Academic Staff College for organizing such a course for the teachers, which is of the utmost importance for keeping them abreast with the latest advancements in this field.

He advised the teachers to make an optimum use of the facilities extended by the DRDO for sponsoring Workshops, Seminars etc. He said that DRDO readily grants major Research Projects in the field of Computer Sciences, Electronics and Information Technology upto Rs.2 Crores. He suggested to conduct a 2-Day Refresher Course for the teachers of Computer Science, Electronics etc. in collaboration with the DRDO in order to make them aware of the various opportunities offered by it.

Talking about the achievements of the DRDO in the field of Defence Technology, he said that this organization has been rendering huge service in indigenous research. He  exhorting the teachers to spare some time for the social cause in addition to discharge their professional duties.

Avinash Kaur Nagpal, Director, Academic Staff College felicitated the participants on the successful completion of the course and hoped that they would have been definitely apprised with the latest development in the field of Computer Sciences.

Amit Chhabra from the Department of Computer Science & Engg. and the Course Coordinator briefly summarized thecontents of the course. He said that the main emphasis has been on the practical demonstration rather than the theoretical components only.

Earlier  Avinash welcomed the chief guest and others . Dr. Mohan Kumar, Deputy Director presented vote of thanks. The certificates were given away to the participants by the Chief Guest.
