Ludhiana, May 10, 2015: Rajesh Bagha, Chairman, Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, today said that the two new insurance and one new pension schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday would prove beneficial for common man as well as the downtrodden strata of the society. Bagha said that the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes will also publicise these schemes in all parts if the state.

Rajesh Bagha was in city to attend a function organised by a newspaper at GMT Public School, here today. He was also honoured on the occasion.

While speaking on the occasion, Bagha said that the Punjab government';s post-matric scholarship scheme for SC students is going on successfully as more than 3.05 lakh students have already been benefitted. He said that the Punjab government has started several schemes for the welfare of SC Community and more such schemes would be started very soon.

Rajesh Bagha said that the SC students are availing of post-matric scholarship scheme in large numbers. He also warned the private colleges on unnecessarily harassing the scheduled caste students studying there. Mr Bagha said that some complaints have come to his notice that some colleges of the state are unnecessarily harassing the SC students, which is totally an unfair and biased approach which would not be tolerated by the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes.

While keeping in mind the future of common man as well as labourers working in Non Organised Sector, two insurance schemes namely, "Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana" (for Accidental Death and Disability), "Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana" (for life insurance) and "Atal Pension Yojna" (for pension) were launched yesterday.

Vijay Kumar Chopra, editor in chief of Hind Samachar Group, also addressed the gathering on the occasion.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Vijay Danav, councillor Narinder Singh Malhi, Gautam Jalandhari, besides several others.
