Ferozepur, July 29, 2017: The Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of the Punjab Police has apprehended drug peddler and have recovered three Kg Heroin along with cash worth Rs.8 lakh from their possession.
Giving details, Narinder Pal Singh, AIG (CI), Ferozepur said that the CI wing had received secret inputs regarding drug smuggling activities being carried by Jagdish Singh alias Deesa, a resident of Village Muhar Jamsher in Fazilka district alongside the border area.
The AIG said that Jagdish (30) had land across the barbed wire fencing and he was allegedly in touch with Pakistani drug smugglers. He said that Jagdish was working as a “middleman” and used to pass on heroin consignment to the other drug peddlers. “Jagdish used to get Rs.2 lakh for per Kg from the cross border drug smugglers to use his fields to hide the consignment. He was in touch with two persons Swarn Singh, a resident of Village Rajo Ke in Taran taran district and Gurdev Singh of Village Rajatal in Amritsar district, who were his regular customers. During the preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that Jagdish sold two Kg heroin to Swarn and Gurddev last week also. Yesterday evening, all of them were nabbed along with the consignment near Ferozepur”, said AIG.
A case under sections 21/25/61/85 of the NDPS Act was lodged against the smugglers at Ferozepur Sadar police station (FIR No.204 dated 28.07.2017).
The AIG said that today all the accused will be sent to the court. “We will demand for the police remand following which all of the accused will sent to interrogation centre in Amritsar”, added AIG Narinder Pal.
uring the press conference, AIG revealed that Jagdish was doing MBA. “It sad to see that the youngsters of border region are choosing this path which will lead them to nowhere accept behind the bars”, said AIG.
