Amritsar, October 28, 2015: Dr.Vandana Bhalla, Assistant Professor at Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar has been awarded Thomson Reuters Research Excellence India Citation Award 2015 for her contribution in the field of chemistry.  Dr.Vandana Bhalla is first women scientist to get this award in India.  For 2015 awards, 10 high-impact Indian scientists were identified whose recent papers represented the strongest research performance in their research area in terms of number of highly cited papers, total citations to these highly cited papers, or both. The award was presented by Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Secretary- DHR & Director General- ICMR on September 18, 2015. 
Dr. Vandana Bhalla has joined the university in 2006 and has published 138 research papers in international journals of repute. The average impact factor of her publications is >4.0 with h-index of 32 with more than 2500 citations. Her area of research is supramolecular chemistry. She has got research grants of more than 1.60 crore from different funding agencies since 2006.  She is also a mentor of DST-INSPIRE programme. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
