TEEMA celebrates three years of its existence; Third Annual Confluence held
Hyderabad, September 10, 2018: The Telangana Events and Exhibition Management Association (TEEMA), an autonomous and non-profit registered body of companies, institutions and professionals operating within the Event and Exhibition Marketing industry in state of Telangana celebrated three years of its existence. An Annual General Body Meeting and Networking Dinner was held here at Cyber Conventions, in the state capital Hyderabad today. The event saw a participation of more than 100 event management professionals and its allied industries. On the occasion, Artist and Media Entrepreneur and well-known Indian RJ and TV Anchor Roshan Abbas spoke on ‘Passion to Profit’. Roshan Abbas, who also dons the hat of an event manager and is the founder of Encompass Events addressed the gathering and shared his journey from ‘Emcee to Entrepreneurship’ with professionals from event management and its allied fraternity. Encompass is one of India’s best experiential marketing company with services across events, BTL (Below the Line) and content creation. Speaking on the occasion, Roshan Abbas said that the event management business is one part science, two parts experience and one part luck. One part science is where people are not trained in, he said. One has to figure out how to handle situations. In this business, Cut-Copy-Paste happens; giving example he said that the music when a person goes to receive a prize or memento is the same. The DJ will have a CD and will play the same everywhere. But you have to be a differentiator, like when the person is from North India… music from North Indian can be played. If one is from South India, south music can be played, he said. Small things can be a differentiator, he opined. An event manager must have an eye that is always scanning for mistakes, he said. From the first day till today I maintain a black book that lists mistakes, he shared with the audience. Whether the light was enough, was it extra, was the music right… things that went wrong at the event. Experience must be recorded. Our business is a ‘live’ business, we must learn from our failures, he said. The biggest problem in events industry is People, said Roshan Abbas. If you have people who are willing to stay with you, train them. And if you have people who want to go away from your organization, stay in touch. Find right people and make partners of people who do things that you cannot do, he opined. Sharing how they got into content creation, Roshan shared that most brand clients want ROI. We used to record the live events that we used to do. He gave an example of an event they did for Toyota where Aamir Khan was there. They shot the event and showed to Star. And the event was telecasted by Star Gold for free. The client loved the unique ROI that they got. Our content division started with that, he said. Signing off, Roshan Abbas said that sustainable profitability comes with building systems, training people and taking challenges. Don’t just profit in money, profit in people you create, profit in deeds, he said. Speaking on the sidelines, Mr. Ashish Gupta, Governing Council Member, TEEMA said that Telangana / Hyderabad contributes about 500 crores plus business in events industry in India. Mr. Sean Joseph, Governing Council Member, TEEMA said that about 50-60 per cent of business of entire events industry in Telangana is contributed by TEEMA members. Today’s Confluence saw participation by Telangana’s event managers; Managers and General Managers of star properties / event venues; event suppliers; event professionals; artists, etc. FMCG, IT companies, Weddings, etc. are the largest users of the events industry said Mr. Sean Joseph. TEEMA is the only body of its kind in the state of Telangana, which seeks to bring together the country’s leading Event Management, Sports Management and Brand Activation companies, MICE and Wedding Planners, Experiential Marketers, Entertainment Professionals, Artist Management companies and international counterparts on the same platform, informed Mr. Sean Joseph.
