Chandigarh: The Punjab Technical Education Minister Mr.Charnjit Singh Channi, strongly adopting zero tolerance policy against corruption, has suspended registrar Navneet Walia and relieved Secretary Puneet Goyal a PCS officer of the Technical Education & Industrial Training Board on the charges of corruption and fraud. Relieved from the post of Secretary Technical Education & Industrial Training Board Mr.Puneet Goyal has been asked to report to the personnel department with immediate effect.

Disclosing this here on Monday, Mr.Channi said that action against these two officials have been taken on serious allegations of committing frauds in revaluation cases and allotment of Examination centre to the colleges. Technical Education Minister said that cases were noticed in which the students scored very less marks or even zero in the exams but they were given pass marks in the revaluation by taking money by the registrar.

He further said that cases of such colleges have come to notice where these officials allotted examination centres to such colleges which do not even fulfill the minimum required eligibility for running an examination centre.

The Minister said that instructions have already been passed to put in place new revaluation policy to ensure complete transparency in the examination system. He said that as per the new revaluation policy if difference of more than 10 marks is found then action would be taken against the examiner.

Mr. Channi has issued instructions to file a detailed charge-sheet against Navneet Walia and PCS officer Puneet Goyal for further action. ‘Vigilance inquiry and FIR would also be registered against these officials, added Channi.

Technical Education Minister has also ordered thorough probe and stern action in the frauds and corruption related cases in the department. He said that if any official found indulged in any unlawful activity, would be dealt severely and strong action would be taken irrespective of his position.

Mr. Channi further said that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government is fully committed to provide quality technical education to the youth. ‘Punjab Government is taking concrete steps to strengthen infrastructure of the government technical institutes, added Channi.
