Says, Jingoism will lead to massive destruction
Ludhiana, May 24, 2017: Constantly increasing tension between India and Pakistan is a cause of serious concern as low level conflict could anytime escalate into full-fledged war.
Reacting to cease fire violations by Pakistan and punitive strikes by India, the Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) has said that both sides should observe restraint as jingoism is no solution to any issue.
In a statement released today Dr L S Chawla – Patron, Dr Surinder Singh Soodan – President, Dr Arun Mitra – Senior Vice President and Dr Shakeel Ur Rahman – General secretary IDPD said that both countries are nuclear weapon states and any escalation in tension could threaten the use of nuclear weapons causing immense destruction of human lives & flora and fauna with long term consequences. Both countries should continue dialogue without any pre conditions. It may be noted here that both countries are among poorest in the world and are very low in human development index. The global hunger index 2017 published recently has put India at 94th rank out of 118 developing countries and Pakistan is even below. Both countries should pay more attention towards education, health, poverty elimination, employment generation, safe drinking water and sanitation instead of military actions against each other.
