Ludhiana, April 7, 2017: BJP National Secretary Tarun Chugh has urged Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to take cue from Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh and honour his promise of waiving farmers' loans in the state.

The BJP leader said that their party's government in UP, has decided to waive off 36,359 crore loan of 2.15 crore farmers in the first cabinet meeting of the government. He said the Yogi government has announced their decision without looking towards the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has honoured the promise made to the farmers of UP.

He said that the Yogi government has set an example before the government of Capt Amarinder Singh but the Punjab Government seems in no mood to go ahead and honour its promise.

Chugh alleged that the Congress government was offering lame excuses and was dilly-dallying the decision due to which the farmers of the state were forced to continue committing suicides.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his initial years has done a lot for the welfare of farmers. The Prime Minister has launched 'Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana' and several other schemes including those of irrigation and has promised to double the income of farmers by the year 2022.

He said Congress leaders instead of developing a road map for the development of the state and for the welfare of the people were indulging in symbolism and to get their men appointed at the choicest places
