Specialist liver disease check-up camp organised at PHC Talwandi Kalan,  Mullanpur
Ludhiana, March 3, 2019: As a part of community welfare initiative, a specialist liver disease check-up camp was organised at PHC Talwandi Kalan, Mullanpur, Ludhiana by Dr Jasmeet Singh Dhingra (Consultant S.P.S Hospital, Ludhiana). 270 patients underwent free blood tests which included liver function, renal function, blood sugar, viral Hepatitis B and viral Hepatitis C check. Screening Fibroscan was done and around 60 asymptomatic patients were found to have evidence of liver dysfunction on screening scans. Free medicines were provided to all patients. The objective of the camp was to screen the general public for early liver disease in form of fatty liver, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C which increases the risk of morbid hepatic illness, cirrhosis and cancer. 15 asymptomatic patients were found to have Hepatitis C and were guided for therapy. Free preventive vaccination for Hepatitis B was also available at this camp.
