Eminent Veteran Journalist and writer Jatinder Pannu.
Ludhiana, January 29, 2019: Eminent Veteran Journalist and writer Jatinder Pannu would be awarded with Harbhajan Halwarvi Award on February 17, 2019. This award would be given to him by Comrade Ratan Singh Halwara Memorial Trust during a function to be held at Sri Guru Ram Das College for Education, Halwara, near here.
Prof Gurbhajan Gill, President, Comrade Ratan Singh Halwara Memorial Trust, informed that born in village Sakhira of district Tarn Taran on October 19, 1954, Jatinder Pannu has been working for noted Punjabi newspaper “Nawan Zamana” on various positions for the last more than 35 years, besides he is also a known face on various print and electronic media platforms globally. Besides this, he is life member of Punjabi Sahit Akademi and Kendra Punjabi Lekhak Sabha.
The award selection committee comprised of chairman Dalbir Singh Suman Halwarvi, Sarabjit Sohi and Dr Navtej Singh Halwarvi. They informed that Jatinder Pannu has penned several books namely “Dastaan Pachhon De Panchiya Di”, “Sikh Dharam De Samajik Sarokar”, “Tuk Tatkara-Waaran Bhai Gurdas”, “Rang Duniya De”, besides poetry book titled “Ajjnama”, besides others. They said that Pannu is a regular face on Doordarshan and Prime Asia Channel of Canada.
Dr Gopal Singh Buttar, Vice President, Comrade Ratan Singh Halwara Memorial Trust, General Secretary Dr Nirmal Jaura, Dr Jagwinder Jodha, Secretary Cultural Affairs and Manjinder Singh Dhanoa, Finance Secretary, informed that the function would be presided over by former Vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University Dr SP Singh, while Dr Surjit Singh Bhatti from Punjabi University Patiala would be the chief guest on the occasion.
A Kavi Darbar would also be organised on the occasion, that would be presided over by Artinder Sandhu, Sukhwinder Amrit, Prof Pritpal Halwarvi (wife of Harbhajan Halwarvi) and Principal Ranjit Singh Dhaliwal. The Kavi Darbar would be telecast live through Malwa TV.
