Special electric voting machines to be used in Raikot and Atam Nagar constituencies

Ludhiana, January 13, 2017: In the coming Legislative elections 2017 special electric voting machines (Voters verifiable print audit trail) will be used for voting by the voters at Raikot and Atam Nagar constituencies. On these machines a voter can check whom he has casted the his vote. On Thursday, a special training on how to use these machines during upcoming elections was given by Master trainer Brij Mohan Bhardwaj to assistant returning officers, supervisors and other election staff. Mr.Brij said this time Election Commission is doing an experiment in some of the legislative constituencies to bring more transparency in the elections.

He further said that these machine are like other electric voting machine with the exception that after casting vote a voter can see a slip having candidate serial number and sign allotted to him. This slip will be there for 7 seconds only and after that this slip will fall into the sealed box. A voter cannot take the along with him, this is because secrecy of casting vote is to maintained. This is for the convince of the voters to see whom they have voted .
